Rebecca:imagery

The author Daphne du Maurier used imagery throughout her book to create suspense. Most of the imagery is about the mansion, Manderley, that the main character lives in becuase Maurier wants to create a perfect image of it in your head. It also helps move the story along because everytime the mood of the character changes, the image of the house is altered in her mind.

Along with making the book more interesting and exciting to read, the use of imagery throughout the book contributes to the theme. The theme remains the same and the view of the house from the main characters perspective makes the overall reading suspenseful and interesting.
