Throughout this year in honors english, we have had to write blogs to go with all of the different things we have been doing this year. When I first heard we were going to have to write blogs, I was not excited at all and even though I forgot to post the blogs many times, I still feel like I have learned a lot from writing these blogs. I realize that we are doing these to reflect over the things we do in class from reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" to acting out scenes from "Romeo and Juliet" and we do it in a way that our classmates can see what we have to say. I really liked doing the blogs over all because it was a fun and different way of digging deeper into what we are learning about. Throughout the year we have read different books, some more confusing than others, and these blogs have been a good way to comprehend some of the more difficult books and get help from other classmates and see what they have to say about them. Another useful blog was the one where we had to think of ideas for the skits. It was a quick and easy way to talk about which skit everyone wanted to do. In the end, I learned a lot and they really helped me throughout the year and although the blogs were difficult to do on time I learned "Better three hours too soon than a minute too late" - William Shakespeare

After being in honors english I think I am definitely better at writing essays. Although I could probably improve on a few things, I think I have improved a lot from the beginning of the year to the end as far as essays. By now I understand the point of writing the essays and I can write them with much less difficulty than before. From practicing writing the essays that we have written so far, it has helped me realize that we write essays to prove a point no matter what that point may be. It has also help me understand literary analysis much better.

Some things I think I need to work on in the essay im writing right now are mostly the transition and sub topic sentences. I think it is easier to go right into what you are saying than introducing what you are about to say. I think I also need to embed the quotes correctly and check for more spelling and grammar mistakes.

Summer Reading List

The first book I want to read is The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks because the movie is one of my favorites and im sure the book is great too. The second book I want to read over the summer is A Walk to Remember by Nicolas Sparks. I want to read this because I have heard from my friends that it is a really good book and I really like all of the books that I have read by Nicolas Sparks so far.

Culture Shock

One movie that reminds me of Romeo and Juliet is The Notebook. The story line isn't exactly the same but it's another movie about forbidden love. Romeo and Juliet really shouldn't be in love because their parents are enemies. In The Notebook, the two characters in love are seperated by social standing and they also shouldn't be in love because of their different social standings.

Extra Credit

Honors english has been pretty good this year. Besides the presentations in front of the class all the assignments have been fun and interesting. My favorite part was reading To Kill a Mockingbird. It was a good book and i actually understood it. I didn't like poetry out loud very much just cause it had to do with going in front of the class.

The first scene in the book that would be a fun skit to watch is the scene where Pip learns that the convict Magwitch is the person that has been giving Pip the money. It happens on a late stormy night when the convict shows up at Pip's house and Pip is very surprised to see him there. As soon as Pip finds out, he is overcome with guilt that he left Joe to follow the convicts wishes. This scene is an important part in the book.

Another scene that would be interesting to watch is the conversation between Pip and Drummle at the coffee shop. They both act so childish fighting over their spot in front of the fire. They act nice to eachother but only cause they feel forced to. They seem to stand their for an hour just silently fighting over thier spot and this would be funny to watch.

The last scene that would be really funny to watch is when Miss Havisham catches on fire. She starts out talking to Pip and she catches on fire and pip saves her and burns his own hands to save her life.

One thing that confused me was the significance of Mr. Jaggers showing Pip Molly's wrist. On page 214 in chapter 26 it talks about Mr. Jaggers grabbing Molly's wrist to show Pip something important but it was just her wrists and it doesn't seem to tie in with anything else in the book so why did he do this?
